Christina + Paul's Northern Michigan Wedding
When Christina and Paul first began working with Shoreline Events, they had already been engaged for a year, as the COVID-19 pandemic put a pause on all life events. Planning their wedding had become a frustrating and daunting task to these two, so it became our mission to revitalize their excitement about planning this special day, and it turned out more magical than we could have imagined!
When searching for their venue, they wanted an outdoor space, ideally with a view of the water. Since these two love to travel and spend free time in Northern Michigan, we wanted to choose a location that was meaningful to them. A few years prior, Paul proposed to Christina at the top of a ski hill at Boyne Mountain resort, so the Beach House Restaurant Lawn at Boyne Resort made the perfect place to host their event.
The design, beautifully captured by The Fourniers, was inspired by Christina and Paul’s love of the outdoors, northern Michigan, and the couple’s taste in decor - european-inspired elegance with rustic elements. The direction for the design was a romantic lakeside garden that felt like it blended in with its surroundings, so the floral and foliage were a high priority throughout and were flawlessly executed by Thyme Hill Designs.
Because these two waited so long to say their I-do’s, the design was kept simple and sophisticated, keeping the focus on Christina and Paul for the ceremony. With the water as their backdrop, Thyme Hill designed four ground arrangements lining the aisle and two large flower arrangements in european-style urns that functioned as the ceremony focal point.
Their reception was where the design really shined. It was heavily inspired by the poplar trees and the arched, ivy-covered walkway on the grounds at The Beach House restaurant. You’ll see this played out inside the reception space; the tent entrance heavily adorned with greenery; the interior tent poles disguised by live poplar trees; and the overhead floral installation above the head table made with ferns and spring floral, were all key focal points in the tent interior.
Later in the night once guests began dancing, The Fourniers snuck the couple away from their guests to let them share a private moment with a bottle of Veuve at the top of Boyne’s ski hill - where their engagement began.
